      The 22nd Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival Has Gone to The Dogs…

A Canine Comedy Guaranteed to Make You Sit-Up and Howl Heavy Petting -A Toast to Humanity Benefit Premiere for the Tri-County Humane Society

The 22nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, which reels out over 175 films and hosts over 100 celebrities and filmmakers from October 15 through November 11, will unleash the World Premiere of a delightful heart-warming, canine comedy that will make audiences sit-up and howl.

On Wednesday, October 24th, the World Premiere of the romantic comedy HEAVY PETTING, which benefits the Tri-County Humane Society and stars Malin Akerman, who has recently gained accolades for her comedic role opposite Ben Stiller in The Heartbreak Kid, Brendan Hines, Kevin Sussman and Casper … the adorable doggy star who steals the show and your heart. Brendan, Kevin and Casper and Casper’s trainer will attend the screening of the film.

HEAVY PETTING is about a love triangle between a man, the woman he loves, and the dog that stands between them. When Charlie meets the girl of his dreams, he doesn’t plan on having to battle her ”true love“ for her affections ... her pet dog, ”Babydoll“. Just when it seems the battle has all but been lost, something magical happens he never expected – Charlie begins to fall in love with the dog himself, and realizes he never really needed a girlfriend in the first place – all he needed was “man’s best friend”.

HEAVY PETTING is preceded by a short film, MASTERPEER THEATRE, An animated spoof of the long running PBS program Masterpiece Theatre…. but in a parallel dog universe!

Tickets to the 6:00pm show are $8 general admission, $7 seniors/students, $5 FLIFF members.

Tickets to the 5:00pm Toast to Humanity Benefit Premiere are $20 and can be purchased by calling the Tri-County Humane Society directly at 561-482-8110 and ask for Mark Glass..

Cinema Paradiso is located at 503 SE 5 Street, downtown Fort Lauderdale.

Metered Parking is free after 6:00pm, Free Parking is also available in the Broward County Courthouse Garage, across the street from the theatre.

Tri-County Humane Society-- The Tri County Humane Society is a not-for-profit, NO KILL organization dedicated to saving animals in Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties. We help as many animals as possible on Death Row at other facilities. Once an animal is rescued by Tri County, it is saved for life. We will not release an animal to another organization that has a policy of euthanasia. In addition, we will only place animals with qualified prospective owners.
