| Toast to Humanity raises their glass to Delta Airline & Frequent Flyer Miles June 30, 2005 In the year 2000, marketing executive and Delta Frequent Flyer, Bonnie Skop, missed her flight out of Toronto, Canada home to Fort Lauderdale. While waiting for the next available flight, she began chatting to one of Delta’s top reservation managers, Soren Neilson, and told him of her new business concept that combined her three passions; the wine industry, entertainment industry, and helping charitable organizations. Soren was impressed with the concept and told her about Ken Chase, the wine consultant to Delta Airlines. Soren took Bonnie’s business card and shortly after, Bonnie flew back into to Toronto to meet with Ken and present her concept. As they discussed the venture, they also discovered both she and Ken were both foster children. This common bond, led them to the decision to give back to children’s charities and they began their two-year process to develop and initiate what was an ambitious little cause branding promotion, Toast to Humanity. Today, with Ken Chase as Chairman of the Board, and Bonnie Skop as Vice Chair and Executive Director, Toast to Humanity, has rapidly become a major force in the wine industry, whose wine sponsors to date include Bouchard Finlayson Wines, Banfi, Bouchard Pere et Fils, Bowe Joubert, Cavit, Frei Brothers, Sanoma-Loeb, and Maison Sichel among others. A worldwide campaign, Toast to Humanity, has raised over $500,000 in both direct dollars and in-kind media for their charity partners, and has created consumer confidence and loyalty for their wine sponsors products via media partners that include USA Today, Decanter Magazine, and Golfer’s Guide. And, in the process, Toast to Humanity, has helped build awareness fornon profit organizations such as The International Centre For Missing And Exploited Children (I.C.M.E.C.)., whose mission is to create and lead a coordinated, global response to the problems of international child abduction and child sexual exploitation; and this year’s charity A Child Is Missing, an organization whose primary purpose is to provide assistance to law enforcement in the search and early recovery efforts during the initial hours of a person's disappearance.
